This is the story of a banal speed control of which there are millions in France each year. It is the Departmental Road Safety Squadron (EDSR) which intercepts it with a speed of 139 km / h, retained 132 for a limitation of 90 km / h on the N10 in the town of Vivonne. Obviously, this father who drives with wife, children and luggage, is in a hurry to find the capital and takes advantage of the power of his Audi Q7 to “bomb”.
Worse, its technical control has expired since June 2021, reports the Gendarmerie. But, the exchange is polite and courteous and the gendarmes are magnanimous in not verbalizing the outdated technical sticker, but only the speed. This is still worth an administrative retention of his driving license because 42 km / h above the limit. The gendarmes even take care to escort the little family to Vivonne station so that they leave the Q7 there and take the train to Paris.
An hour and a half
However, Pandoras were not born from the last rain. They come back a little later and find that the vehicle has disappeared. They then go in search of Q7 and find it 10 minutes later, with Mr. behind the wheel. And there, it is no longer the same soup.
Courteous or not, the driver is now the subject of misdemeanor proceedings (driving without a license) and his lack of technical control which had only been the subject of a reminder the first time, is now being prosecuted. The vehicle which was not immobilized then is now, administratively for 7 days initially. It is not specified whether the immobilization is for the lack of technical control, or for driving without a license, or both. In the case of driving without a licence, it will be up to the court to lift the immobilization or extend it.
As a reminder, driving without a license can go up to 1 year in prison, a fine of €15,000 and above all the pure and simple confiscation of the vehicle. He played, he lost, when he could have got away with it despite speeding more than 40 km/h. The gendarmes of Vivonne conclude: “Nice but not too much!!!!”.
