During the Miami Grand Prix, Laffite Automobili, a new manufacturer established in Italy by Bruno Laffite, Jacques’ nephew, unveiled three models, designed in collaboration with the CFG studios of Giugiaro father and son: a barchetta, an Atrax 4×4 SUV and an LM1 hypercar straight out of a prototype sports race.
Electric hypercar, with thermal noise if you will
A rolling example of the LM1 was spotted and filmed in Monaco recently. The video can be seen on the Instagram page of Cedric Boutsen, the son of former Benetton, Williams and F1 Ligier driver Thierry Boutsen. We hear a hoarse purr that suggests the use of an artificial engine sound, since the LM1, whose official launch is scheduled for January 2024, is an electric hypercar whose announced power is 1,151 hp for a torque of 1 600 Nm, a 0 – 100 km/h shot in 1.98 s, for a maximum speed of 350 km/h and a range of 410 km (yeah) Its production is planned for 24 copies for a unit price of 2, $4 million!
A big LMP1 that works
The bow and stern are really impressive, both massive, sharp and futuristic, with the panoply of the prototype intended for the Hunaudières: carbon separator, swept hood line, LMP1-style wheel arches, bubble cockpit, shark fin, wing gigantic downforce rear, monster diffuser. The aerodynamic work on the front part is quite spectacular. It’s more attractive in profile, with dramatic lines and curves reminiscent of the Toyota GT-One, especially in that red color dotted with white, which was visibly done as a tribute to Monaco. We imagine, however, that it has a lifting system, because it is cut more to express itself on a circuit than in the narrow and hilly streets of the principality.
